Attorney Jacob Nixon

Jacob Nixon is an attorney whose practice focuses on representing injured workers and government contractors in claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act.

About Jason

Before joining MJA, Jacob represented employers and insurance carriers in complex workers' compensation and Longshore matters. His experience on the defense side gives him a practical understanding of how these claims are evaluated, litigated, and resolved, allowing him to anticipate opposing arguments and advocate effectively for his clients.

Jacob's legal career has also included broad civil litigation experience. He has drafted dispositive motions, appellate briefs, and class certification briefs, managed discovery, taken depositions, participated in mediations, and handled complex statutory and administrative issues. He enjoys the analytical side of litigation and is particularly drawn to cases that require careful review of medical evidence, employment records, and complicated legal questions.

Jacob earned his Juris Doctor from Charleston School of Law after beginning his professional career in the mental health field, an experience that continues to shape the way he works with clients facing significant physical and psychological injuries. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina.

Outside of the office, Jacob enjoys spending time with his daughter, reading history and science fiction, and painting.
