Military Defense Lawyers

Article 15 / Non-Judicial Punishment

Non-judicial punishment under Article 15 of the UCMJ allows commanders to address minor offenses without initiating a court-martial. Known as “Article 15,” “Captain’s Mast,” or “Office Hours,” NJP can still carry serious career consequences.

MJA advises service members on whether to accept or contest NJP and provides representation aimed at minimizing long-term impact.

Titling Actions

Titling occurs when a service member is listed as the subject of a CID investigation, resulting in indexing within federal law enforcement databases. This can occur even without charges or punishment.

Titling decisions can affect background checks, employment, and security clearances. MJA challenges improper titling and pursues corrections where evidence does not support continued indexing.
